Why this page is short
A shop buys at trade and sells at retail, so most of the time it asks more than a copy fetches between collectors, not less. Of the sealed product in stock at US shops today, four in five is priced above market. That is the normal state, and it is why the handful that are not is worth a page.
What turns up here is mostly stock that stopped moving. A shop lists a collection at the price it had on release, the set goes out of print, the market moves, and the shelf price never follows. That is the whole opportunity, and it closes as soon as somebody notices.
What the numbers are
The shop price is read straight from the shop’s own catalogue, not from an aggregator. Market is what copies have actually sold for, the same figure the sealed list carries.
US shops only, and that is not laziness. Market price is in dollars, a shop in Manchester prices in pounds, and nothing here is converted, because an exchange rate is a guess that goes stale and would be the only invented number on the site. A pound price against a dollar market price is not a discount, it is an exchange rate with a percentage sign on it. Every region’s shops are on the in-stock list and on each product’s own page.
Anything more than 60% under market is left off. At that depth it is almost never a real price: it is a placeholder from a shop that hides prices behind an account, or a listing matched to the wrong product. Some shops also restrict who can buy, behind a member rank or a verified account, and none of that is visible in a shop’s catalogue, so the ones known to do it are excluded by hand rather than guessed at.
